Fulton Fish Market, Museum of the City of New York, Seaport Museum

In the late 1960's we were part of a fish coop. Each week two people would go down to the Fulton Fish Market very early in the morning, buy direct from the fishermen, then redistribute it to our group on the upper east side. That was the year we bought James Beard's Fish Cookbook to learn what to do to some of the unusual fish we bought. Actually, I think Haven bought us the book.

This is an interesting mixture of old and new on the docks. There are many old restored buildings with shops catering to busloads of people. I think the Ferry Building in SF is a more enjoyable commercial experience however. A good place to get 1/2 price theater tickets for the day. We saw "Wit" that evening.

The Seaport Museum, a elegant combination of building restoration and exhibits, including one by Eric Sanderson of the Mannahatta Project and photos of Occupy Wall Street from the Fall. Can you guess these are sinkers tied to fishing line?
