Facetime with Zachery on Marshall's phone last night showed him eating food on his own! This is quite an achievement thanks to the loving care given by Marshall, Emily and Mary. (!like/love!) We have had phone conversations with Jerry our NYC DVM friend and visits to Ithaca DVM, shared lab work and timely concern from our house tenant Dierk and Diego. Zach is 15 years old and I was mentally prepared for this to go either way.
About 10 days ago the tenant notice a drastic change in Zach. He contacted me after a day of very lethargic/non-eating or drinking behavior. Dierk was going out of town and Diego did not drive or have enough experience with English to deal with a doctor. Fortunately it was a snow day so Marshall and Mary were able to bring him to the doctor for lab tests and back to their house for observation and care.
Marshall has been injecting IV fluids and some syringe feeding, Emily has been tempting him with many different tastes of warmed diluted foods and Mary is there for constant hugs. We think he is getting better as he rallied to scrabble with Julie Little, who only noticed him in her house after 5 days. I feel very lucky to have such wonderful family in town to handle this for us. For today, Zach is good!
Kathy, this is such wonderful news, even the scrabble with Julie Little! Sending love and continued well being for your beloved feline friend!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you are getting to spend some quality time with Zachary.
