Skiettes

What is a Skiette? This is a collective word for 4 great friends who met while working at The Childbearing Childrearing Center, Minneapolis, MN in the 1970's.  Those close to me know and accept the word as a proper noun.  Marshall brought me a book that said groups that name themselves stay together.  It started in 1979 when Deb and I went to Duluth for a weekend of cross-country skiing.  Pam and Susan joined us shortly thereafter.  We cross-country skied, ate and laughed a whole lot.  Skiette trips have evolved into at least one annual trip somewhere together. About the 8-10th trip we thought we should write down where we had been and the highlights of the trip along with our box of souvenirs, coasters, postcards etc.  It has been a while since we skied together, however we still eat and laugh a lot and collect momentos of each place "for the book". We have given birth, moved, married, cried, divorced, grieved, remarried, nursed parents, become grandparents and still celebrate. This photo is a celebration of Deb's 60th birthday in NYC. Families and friends joined us for this week of celebration and the 5 Boro Bike Tour.
