I love the Museum of the City of New York. One current exhibition is The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan 1811 - 2011. This was a real estate developers dream, turning farms in to lots. Even I would have to admit the result was the greater good for the most amount of people. They really bulldozed it as level as they could, tearing down hills and filling valleys. This photo is 84th and Broadway! Carl and I went to the public lecture Wednesday evening and learned the many new ways movement through the city has been improved over the past 8 years by installing bike lanes inside the parking lane, fast bus lanes that coordinate with traffic lights, and countdown crossing signs. Maybe I want to be a city planner when I grow up?
